California natives chosen for salt wind
A small Voltaire Street yard on the Point Loma peninsula stocking coastal sage scrub and chaparral — lemonade berry, cleveland sage, dudleya, ceanothus and toyon — selected for what will actually hold on a bluff lot with salt wind. Stock is mostly one-gallon and deep pots so roots go down instead of sideways. Staff will turn away a sale rather than sell a plant that wants inland heat.
