Apple-of-Peru is a fast-growing annual with attractive violet-blue bell-shaped flowers and papery, lantern-like seed pods that add ornamental interest. It thrives in full sun to part shade in average, well-drained soil with moderate watering. Note that all parts of the plant are considered toxic and it can self-seed prolifically, so deadhead spent blooms to control spread.
