Arabian pea
Bituminaria bituminosa
Arabian pea is a drought-tolerant Mediterranean perennial that thrives in well-drained, sandy or rocky soils with full sun exposure. Once established, it requires very little supplemental watering and is well adapted to hot, dry summers typical of Mediterranean-climate gardens. Its purple pea-like flowers attract pollinators and it has a notable bituminous scent when the foliage is crushed.
