Arnica griscomii subsp. frigida

This cold-hardy arctic arnica subspecies is native to Alaska, the Northwest Territories, British Columbia, and the Russian Far East, demanding cool to frigid climates and moist, humus-rich soils with partial shade. It is extremely challenging to cultivate outside its native subarctic range and is best attempted by experienced alpine gardeners. A true specialist plant, it produces cheerful yellow daisy-like flowers and shares the medicinal heritage of the arnica genus.
