Aromatic sumac is a tough, low-maintenance native shrub that adapts to a wide range of soils, including poor, dry, and rocky conditions. It offers multi-season interest with fragrant foliage, yellow spring flowers, red fall color, and persistent red berries attractive to wildlife. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded spot and water only until established — it requires virtually no supplemental irrigation afterward.
