Asclepias incarnata subsp. incarnata

Swamp milkweed thrives in consistently moist to wet soils in full sun to part shade, making it ideal for rain gardens or pond edges. It is a critical host plant for monarch butterflies and attracts a wide range of pollinators. Once established it requires little attention beyond keeping the soil moist and cutting back dead stems in late fall.
