Largeleaf balsamroot (Balsamorhiza macrophylla) is a striking native perennial from the Intermountain West, producing large, heart-shaped leaves and bright yellow daisy-like flowers in spring. Plant in well-drained, rocky or sandy soil and avoid overwatering once established. It is slow to settle in after transplanting but very long-lived once rooted.
