Bear-grape

Bearberry is a low-growing, mat-forming evergreen shrub that excels as a tough groundcover in rocky, sandy, or poor soils where little else will grow. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained acidic soil, and is highly drought tolerant once established — avoid overwatering or rich soils which can cause decline. Its small pink flowers attract pollinators in spring, and its bright red berries provide food for birds through winter.
