Betony is a tough, low-maintenance perennial herb that suits meadow gardens, wild borders, and partly shaded beds with average soil. It produces attractive spikes of purple-pink flowers in summer that are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. Once established it is largely self-sufficient, needing only occasional watering during prolonged dry periods.
