Betula pendula subsp. pendula

Silver birch is a fast-growing, elegant deciduous tree beloved for its striking white peeling bark and graceful weeping branches. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded position in well-drained, slightly acidic soil and water regularly during its first two years to help it establish. Once mature it is largely self-sufficient, but prefers consistent moisture and does not tolerate prolonged drought.
