Black-bindweed

Black-bindweed (Dioscorea communis) is a vigorous climbing perennial that prefers partial shade and a support structure such as a trellis or fence to scramble over. Keep the soil moderately moist and well-drained, and be aware that its red berries are toxic and should be kept away from children and pets. Cut back hard in autumn after the foliage dies down and mulch the tuberous roots to protect them from frost.
