Black bog-rush is a clump-forming, rush-like sedge best suited to wet, boggy, or waterlogged garden areas such as pond margins, rain gardens, or wet meadow plantings. It thrives in alkaline to neutral, permanently moist soils and tolerates coastal conditions well. Once established it is largely self-sufficient; simply divide clumps every few years to maintain vigor.
