Black titi is a semi-evergreen to deciduous shrub or small tree native to the southeastern United States and tropical Americas, thriving in moist, acidic soils along wetlands, swamps, and woodland edges. It produces attractive racemes of fragrant white flowers in summer and offers outstanding red-to-orange fall foliage color. Plant in part shade to full sun with consistently moist conditions; it is not well-suited to dry or alkaline soils.
