Black zira
Bunium bulbocastanum
Black zira is a bulbous perennial herb native to European meadows and cultivated for its aromatic seeds used as a spice in Central Asian cuisine. Plant it in well-drained soil in a sunny to partly shaded spot and water moderately, reducing irrigation once the foliage begins to die back in summer. It is best suited to outdoor herb gardens and requires a period of dry dormancy after flowering.
