Blue mallow
Malva sylvestris
Blue mallow is a vigorous, free-flowering perennial that produces beautiful purple-veined blooms from late spring through autumn with very little effort. Plant it in full sun to partial shade in any reasonably fertile, well-drained soil and water weekly during dry spells. Both its flowers and young leaves are edible, making it a lovely dual-purpose addition to a cottage or kitchen garden.
