Brass-buttons is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial with cheerful yellow button-like flowers that bloom over a long season, making it excellent as a ground cover near water features or in damp garden beds. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers consistently moist to wet soils, doing well in pond margins or rain gardens. Minimal pruning is needed — simply trim back spreading stems if it begins to outgrow its allotted space.
