California-bur is a hardy, weedy annual that thrives in disturbed soils with minimal care. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded location and water occasionally during dry spells. Note that the spiny burs can be a nuisance and the plant spreads readily, so manage carefully to prevent unwanted spread.
