Canadian buffalo-berry is a tough, adaptable native shrub that grows well in poor soils and is an excellent choice for naturalized or wildlife gardens. It is nitrogen-fixing through root symbiosis, making it a great companion plant that improves soil health with little effort. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded spot, water occasionally while establishing, and then largely leave it to its own devices.
