Carob

Carob is a drought-tolerant Mediterranean evergreen tree that thrives in full sun and well-drained, sandy or loamy soil with minimal watering once established. It is highly adaptable and low maintenance, making it an excellent choice for warm, dry climates such as USDA zones 9–11. The tree produces edible pods used as a chocolate substitute and is a long-lived, attractive specimen for large gardens or orchards.
