Castilleja angustifolia var. angustifolia

Narrowleaf Indian Paintbrush is a hemiparasitic wildflower that requires a compatible host plant such as a native grass to thrive in the garden. It prefers well-drained soils in open, partly shaded sites and is best grown in naturalized or native plant gardens rather than conventional beds. This species is challenging to cultivate outside its native habitat and is best suited for experienced native plant gardeners.
