Checkertree

Checkertree (Torminalis glaberrima) is a rare and slow-growing deciduous tree valued for its attractive lobed foliage, spring blossom clusters, and small checker-patterned fruit beloved by birds. It performs best in a sunny to partly shaded position in well-draining, moderately fertile soil and is quite low-maintenance once established. This tree is an excellent choice for heritage orchards, native woodland gardens, or larger landscape projects where a long-lived specimen tree is desired.
