Cherry-laurel is a robust, evergreen shrub or small tree widely used for hedging and screening, tolerating a broad range of soils and light conditions from full sun to deep shade. Water regularly in the first year to establish roots, then only during prolonged dry spells once mature. Trim annually in late summer to maintain shape, and note that all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested.
