The Chinese pear (Pyrus ussuriensis) is a hardy, cold-tolerant ornamental and fruiting tree prized for its spectacular white spring blossoms and attractive autumn foliage. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded location with well-drained soil, and water regularly during establishment, tapering off once the tree is mature. It is commonly used as a rootstock for grafting other pear varieties and also makes an elegant standalone specimen tree.
