Chinese water chestnut is an aquatic plant that must be grown in consistently waterlogged or flooded conditions, making it ideal for pond margins, bog gardens, or containers filled with water. Plant corms in full sun to partial shade in rich, loamy soil submerged under 2-4 inches of water, and allow plenty of warm growing season time before harvesting corms in autumn. This plant requires a tropical or warm temperate climate and is best grown as an annual in cooler regions.
