Common butterwort is a carnivorous plant that traps small insects on its sticky, rosette leaves and requires very pure, low-mineral water such as rainwater or distilled water. Plant in a nutrient-poor, well-draining mix such as perlite and peat, and never fertilize the soil. It enjoys bright indirect to direct light and a cool dormancy period in winter, making it a fascinating but demanding choice for dedicated carnivorous plant enthusiasts.
