Common periwinkle is a tough, low-growing evergreen groundcover that thrives in shade to partial shade, making it ideal for suppressing weeds under trees or on difficult slopes. Its cheerful violet-blue flowers appear in early spring, and its glossy foliage remains attractive year-round with very little care needed. Trim back annually in late winter to keep it tidy and prevent it from spreading beyond its intended area.
