Torrey's dogwood is a native shrub adapted to moist, shaded or partially shaded forest edges along the Pacific Coast and inland mountains. Plant it in well-drained, organically rich soil and water regularly during dry spells, especially in its first two years while establishing. It produces small white flowers attractive to pollinators and berries that provide food for birds in late summer.
