Crested pricklypoppy is a tough, drought-adapted native of the Great Plains that produces large, showy white flowers with yellow centers on spiny, silver-grey foliage. Plant it in full sun with very well-drained soil and water sparingly, as it is well adapted to dry, disturbed soils and does not tolerate overwatering or root saturation. Handle with care as all parts of the plant are covered in sharp spines and the sap is toxic.
