Dense-flower mullein is a stately biennial or short-lived perennial that produces tall, dramatic spikes of bright yellow flowers beloved by pollinators. It thrives in full sun with poor to average, well-drained soil and is very tolerant of dry conditions once established. Allow spent flower stalks to stand for birds to feed on the seeds, and it will readily self-seed in suitable spots.
