Desert phlox thrives in well-drained rocky or sandy soils and prefers a spot with partial shade, particularly in hotter climates. Water every 10–14 days and reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant. It is well-suited to xeriscape and native Southwest gardens and requires minimal fertilization.
