Galinsoga parviflora, commonly called quickweed or gallant soldier, is a fast-growing annual weed found in gardens, disturbed soils, and agricultural fields worldwide. It is not a recommended garden plant, but its young leaves are edible and used as a pot herb in parts of South America and Africa. Control it by mulching and hand-pulling before it sets seed, as a single plant can produce thousands of seeds per season.
