Early coralroot is a mycoheterotrophic orchid that cannot be cultivated conventionally — it has no chlorophyll and relies entirely on a specific soil fungus for water and nutrition. It is virtually impossible to establish outside its native boreal and temperate forest habitat, making it unsuitable for home gardens or nursery sale. Enjoy it where it naturally occurs and never attempt to transplant or purchase wild-collected specimens.
