Eight-petal mountain-avens
Dryas octopetala
Eight-petal mountain-avens is a beautiful low-growing alpine perennial that produces stunning white, eight-petaled flowers with golden centers and thrives in full sun with very well-drained, gritty or rocky soil. It is ideal for rock gardens, alpine troughs, or the front of borders where drainage is excellent and summer heat is not extreme. Once established it is surprisingly tough and low-maintenance, but it dislikes waterlogged or humid conditions.
