This scapose variety of Wright's buckwheat is native to California and Nevada and produces delicate flower clusters on slender stems above a low mat of woolly foliage. It prefers well-drained, lean soils in a sunny to partly shaded position and should be watered sparingly, especially in winter. It is a wonderful choice for native rock gardens and pollinator plantings in arid western landscapes.
