European blackberry

European blackberry is a vigorous, thorny shrub that produces sweet, edible berries when given a sunny to partly shaded position and consistently moist, fertile soil. Prune out old fruited canes to the ground each autumn to encourage strong new growth and a generous crop the following year. It spreads by tip-layering and should be given ample space or trained onto a support structure to keep it manageable.
