European hackberry is a tough, long-lived deciduous tree that adapts well to a range of soils and climates, making it an excellent low-maintenance landscape specimen. It produces small edible berry-like drupes that attract birds and other wildlife, adding ecological value to gardens and parks. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded location and water regularly until established, after which it is quite drought tolerant.
