European larch

European larch is a deciduous conifer — one of the few conifers to shed its needles in autumn — making it a striking specimen tree for large gardens and landscapes. It prefers full sun and moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, and is highly cold-hardy once established. Young trees benefit from regular watering in their first few years, but mature trees are largely self-sufficient and very wind-tolerant.
