Foetid hawk's-beard is a hardy, low-growing perennial suited to well-drained soils in open or partially shaded spots such as dry meadows, roadsides, and rocky banks. It requires very little care once established and tolerates poor soils with minimal supplemental watering. Its small yellow daisy-like flowers attract bees and other pollinators throughout summer.
