Forest phlox is an easy-care native groundcover that produces masses of fragrant lavender-blue flowers in spring when grown in dappled shade with consistently moist soil. It spreads gently to fill shaded garden beds and pairs beautifully with spring bulbs and ferns. Deadhead spent blooms to tidy the plant and cut back lightly after flowering to encourage a second flush of growth.
