Common evening primrose is a vigorous biennial or short-lived perennial that produces cheerful yellow flowers in summer, which open in the evening and attract moths and bees. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded spot with well-draining soil and water every 7-14 days; it tolerates poor soils and is relatively drought-resistant once established. This easy-care wildflower self-seeds freely, so deadhead if you want to control its spread.
