Glossy nightshade is a fast-growing weedy annual or short-lived perennial that establishes readily in disturbed soils with little intervention. It bears small white star-shaped flowers followed by glossy black berries that are attractive to birds but toxic to humans. This plant is generally considered a weed rather than a cultivated species and is not recommended for intentional planting in home gardens.
