Green alder is a hardy, multi-stemmed shrub or small tree that fixes nitrogen and thrives in moist, cool environments such as stream banks, alpine slopes, and wetland edges. It is very low maintenance once established and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions including wet, poorly drained soils. An excellent choice for erosion control and wildlife habitat planting.
