Hedysarum alpinum var. philoscia

Alpine sweetvetch is a hardy Great Plains native perennial in the legume family, producing attractive pink to purple pea-like flowers in late spring and early summer. It prefers well-drained soils in part shade to full sun and benefits from regular watering during the growing season; as a nitrogen-fixing legume it enriches the surrounding soil. Provide good drainage and avoid overwatering, as roots can rot in consistently wet conditions.
