Rough oxeye (false sunflower) is a vigorous native perennial prized for its long season of bright yellow, sunflower-like blooms from midsummer into fall. It thrives in full sun to light shade with average moisture and is very adaptable to a range of soil types, making it an excellent low-maintenance choice for borders and naturalized plantings. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong blooming or leave seed heads standing for birds through winter.
