Hot-rock penstemon is a rugged native perennial built for rocky, dry slopes and well-draining soils across the western United States. Its creamy white to pale lavender flowers attract bees and hummingbirds in late spring and early summer, requiring very little supplemental water once established. Plant in full sun to light shade and avoid heavy clay soils or overwatering, which can cause root rot.
