Ipomopsis aggregata subsp. aggregata

Scarlet gilia is a striking western wildflower with tall spikes of vivid red tubular flowers that are magnets for hummingbirds and butterflies. Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny to partly shaded location and water regularly, as it does not tolerate prolonged drought. It is typically a biennial to short-lived perennial, so allow some plants to self-seed for continued display in the garden.
