Itea virginica

Virginia sweetspire is a native deciduous shrub prized for its fragrant white flower racemes in early summer and brilliant red-to-purple fall foliage. Plant it in part shade to full sun in consistently moist soil, and it will tolerate wet conditions making it ideal for rain gardens or stream edges. Once established it requires minimal care and spreads gradually by suckering to form attractive colonies.
