Japanese privet is a tough, fast-growing evergreen shrub that thrives in partial shade to full sun with average moisture. Water regularly during establishment, then reduce frequency as the plant becomes moderately drought tolerant once mature. It responds well to pruning and is an excellent choice for hedges, screens, or foundation plantings.
