Jerusalem-thorn is a fast-growing, drought-hardy tree or large shrub that thrives in hot, dry climates with full sun and very well-drained soil. Once established it needs little to no supplemental irrigation and tolerates poor soils, making it ideal for xeriscape and desert landscaping. Be mindful of its sharp thorns when siting the plant, and note it can spread aggressively in some warm regions.
