Nanking cherry is a hardy, adaptable shrub that tolerates a wide range of soils and is easy to grow in most temperate gardens. It produces beautiful pink-white spring blossoms followed by tart, edible red berries loved by birds and wildlife. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape, and water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots.
